Director Blogs Popular With Movie Fans
Posted on June 20, 2005
The L.A. Times has an article about directors who are also blogging. Here are a few of the blogs mentioned in the article.
- King Kong, directed by Peter Jackson, at kongisking.net.
- Brian Singer, director of a new Superman remake for Warner Bros., posts a weekly video diary at bluetights.net.
- Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator Joss Whedon has been blogging occasionally on the Serenity movie website.
- Rob Zombie, writer/director of The Devil's Rejects blogs on a Lions Gate site (no longer available).
Directors' blogs have subdivided into two distinct camps -- slickly produced video-driven production journals and technologically minimal Web diaries. But to hear it from Michael Regina, editor in chief of The One Ring Inc., a company that specializes in constructing movie fan sites -- including kongisking.net and theonelion.net, for the upcoming Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe - fans are simply interested in the minutiae of movie magic, in whatever format they're conveyed.Update 4-27-15: The one downside to these blogs is they tend to have a short shelf-life. The sites that host them don't tend to archive them. Entire movie sites even tend to disappear a few years after a film has aired in theaters.
