YouTube Launches International Websites

The BBC is reporting that YouTube.com has launched nine versions of its website for other contries including France, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Poland, Brazil, Ireland, Italy and the UK.
The video site, owned by Google, has launched nine versions across Brazil, France, Ireland, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain and the UK.Hurley also said that half of YouTube's visitors are from outside the U.S. Bloomberg also has an article about the new YouTube sites. The article says that a German YouTube was not launched because YouTube co-founder and CTO Steve Chen said "it wasn't ready in terms of products or partnerships."Each site is translated into local languages and has country-specific video rankings and comments.
"Video is universal and allows people around the world to communicate and exchange ideas," said Chad Hurley, YouTube co-founder.
