It was widely reported that Yahoo would be shutting down its social bookmarking service Delicious. It turns out that Yahoo plans not to close it, but to sell it.

- No, we are not shutting down Delicious. While we have determined that there is not a strategic fit at Yahoo!, we believe there is a ideal home for Delicious outside of the company where it can be resourced to the level where it can be competitive.

Danny Sullivan thinks Yahoo flubbed the news about the future of Delicious. It does seem like Yahoo could have quashed rumors the service was been shuttered faster than it did.
